Program Description

The School of Business and Accountancy is designed to deepen the students' maturing love interest for business organization. It aims at propounding quintessential theories, methodologies and perspectives in business management collaborating with the most recent results of studies and investigations, and other related academic endeavor in the field. It is a paramount value to the School of Business & Accountancy to instill in the minds and hearts of student sound ethical principle, business accountability and responsibility.

To achieve its goals, the School of Business & Accountancy commits itself to realize the following:

  1. A professional business environment in the department to simulate actual business and corporate experience and management theories;
  2. The production of versatile and resourceful Business Administration & Accountancy Graduates;
  3. A research and technology-based curriculum program that would gear towards the creation of innovative teaching-learning methodologies and strategies;
  4. An improved classroom instruction and facilities;
  5. Stronger and wider educational and industrial linkages;
  6. Dual-learning system through practicum-internship program and alliances with reputable business industry; and
  7. Regular review and updating of the curriculum program vis-a-vis the business code of ethics for professional organizations and Philippine Business for Social Progress.

The School of Business and Accountancy is dedicated to hone the capabilities of the Lccians through systematic and innovative process and thus prepare them to be flourishing industry players with professionalism, wider knowledge and untainted Augustinian values.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTANCY

The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program is designed to prepare students for a successful entry into the Accounting profession. This degree program meets the current requirements for taking the Philippine Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination given by the Board of Accountancy and administered by the Professional Regulations Commission. The program also serves as a foundation for entrance into graduate programs in business or accounting.

Career Opportunities:

Accounting is still recognized as one of the world's leading professions, offering many challenging opportunities for a rewarding career. A degree in accounting offers high-paying jobs. Accountants work for public accounting firms that offer audit, tax advisory services, financial planning and management consulting services to businesses, individuals and the government. Other graduates pursue careers in corporate accounting. They work in large and small corporations, including school systems, banks, retail establishments, manufacturers and energy companies, handling sensitive jobs in financial/management accounting, financial reporting, internal auditing, and budget analysis. Typical job titles for accounting graduates are auditor, cost accountant, staff accountant, consultant, financial analyst, tax consultant, controller, internal auditor, and business analyst. Controllers and accounting managers work as part of the company's management team and participate in critical decision-making. Others work for the government as auditors. Many CPA's also pursue careers in colleges and universities as accounting educators. All of these rewarding opportunities are in store for accounting graduates, thus allowing them to contribute to their country and to the world by helping in maintaining the highest level of integrity in accounting and related fields.

major in Business Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Business Management prepares young men and women to become managers and entrepreneurs who are fully aware of their social responsibilities. The program provides these future professionals with skills in research, analysis, innovation and decision-making in the area of business management. Students are taught to be responsive to technological developments, particularly the advent of communication and information technology, and international economic conditions and globalization which will prepare them for career entry and managerial positions in profit and non-profit companies and organizations. They are also expected to have training and motivation necessary to start their own business and become successful entrepreneurs.

major in Banking & Finance

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Banking and Finance program aims to train and develop future managers and professionals in various skills, applied principles and strategies necessary for effective decision making in the management of finance/treasury function of an organization or financial institutions such as banks and investment houses. Specifically, the program intends to sharpen their understanding of changing technology (e-commerce - internet - and information technology), financial regulations, organizational structures, financial products and instruments in the capital markets both in the Philippines, Asia-Pacific Region and worldwide.

major in Advertising Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Advertising Management program is designed for student s who intend to specialize and pursue a career in advertising-related industry, in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Region. The course enhances the innovative, managerial and strategic planning skills of the students in preparation for their career in the advertising world, either as professionals or executives in the Advertising and Promotions Department of local or multinational companies, particularly marketing consumer products, or in advertising agencies. The program's distinct feature is its core in business administration supplemented with major subjects taken from other related disciplines - marketing, psychology, and mass communication.

major in Human Resource Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management is designed for students who intend to specialize and pursue a career in training, personnel administration and human resource management in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Region. The course enhances the managerial and strategic planning skills of the students in preparation for their career in personnel/HR world, either as professionals or executives in the Personnel and Human Resource Department of local or multinational companies or in Personnel-Manpower and Executive Search and Training Agencies and Consultants.

The program's distinct feature is its core in business administration (marketing, operations, finance and computer-information technology) supplemented by major subjects taken from other related disciplines - Marketing and Psychology.

The primary objective of the Bachelor of Science in Business administration major in Marketing Management is to provide students with an understanding of the role, scope, concepts and theories of advanced marketing. It also emphasizes on an applied approach with practical applications to give students a workable understanding of marketing principles. As future business executives and entrepreneurs, the major is designed to teach students how marketing can help meet the needs of the public and assist organizations in successfully competing in an environment of intense competition.

major in International Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in International Management is designed for students who intend to specialize and pursue career in international management in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Region. The program enhances the innovative, managerial and strategic planning skills of the students in preparation for their career in international management, either as professionals or executives in the International or Import-Export Department of local or multinational companies operating in the Philippines or abroad and/or pursue entrepreneurial undertaking by being exporters of the Philippine-local products in foreign markets.

The program's distinct feature is its core in business administration (marketing, operations, finance and computer-information technology) supplemented by major subjects taken from other related disciplines - Marketing, Management and Finance with all International Orientation.

major in Hotel & Tourism Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Hotel and Tourism Management is a combination of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Tourism and Business programs. It aims to prepare students become successful future entrepreneurs and to be globally competitive in the management of service institutions such as hotel and restaurant and tourism industry. With the programs foundation in business administration, and the combination of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism, graduates with the Hotel and Tourism Management major will be well prepared to enter a management career path in public or hotel, tourism and service related establishments or for a successful operation of their own business.

Job Opportunities upon Graduation

With the programs' general management orientation, graduates of BSBA are flexible to shift career options in the government service and private enterprises as well as career entries in various departmental functions in business organizations - Personnel/Human Resource Development, Marketing, Finance and Treasury, Production/Operations and Computer-Information Technology across various industries - manufacturing, merchandising, financial services (banking, insurance), service institutions (hotels and tourism) and other specialized industries and sub-sectors such as property-real estate, communications and computer-information technology.
